Reed-instrument details in quiet light

A small instrument. An open idea.

Give a phrase
its own voice.

Start with a note. Leave a space. Change the ending.
Bellowsmith turns those choices into sound you can hear and keep.

Three colours
of the same idea.

Each voice is made from original mathematical oscillators. Choose a different balance without borrowing a recording.

A polished reed component
01

Clear reed

A defined fundamental with a small family of harmonics.

Ivory piano keys beside dark folded bellows
02

Rounded

A softer harmonic balance with room around each event.

A winding sculpture of strings and instrument forms
03

Glass edge

An open tone with a brighter odd-harmonic outline.

Notes become a gesture.
Silence gives it a place.

A little working instrument

Change a note.
Hear the difference.

Tap a note to move through a small set of pitches, choose a voice, then press Play. This example runs locally in your browser and does not save a composition.

The Android app gives you a complete phrase editor, rests, beat lengths, ties, transposition and native WAV export.

A working phrase, then an edition

Keep one version.
Try another.

Save an edition with a name that means something to you. Duplicate it before changing its rhythm or register. Compare real note and timing differences, then return to the one you want to hear.

  • Notes and rests with explicit beat lengths
  • Equal-pitch ties that hold one continuous tone
  • Tempo, transposition and independent phrase editions
  • A WAV rendered by the same native sound engine

A few useful details

Simple controls.
Actual sound.

What makes the sound?

Original oscillators and envelopes create the audio on your device. The app does not use recordings of performers.

What does a tie do?

It joins equal neighbouring notes without a new attack. A rest remains silence, and every beat contributes to the duration.

What can I keep?

Save and compare editions in the app, or choose a WAV, text sheet or project export. You decide where an exported file goes.
